Anonymous No. 2 replied ...The source of the 5 daily prayers is the mythical night journey and the rounds of negotiation with "God" to bring it down from 50 to 5 daily.

As to the Friday prayers, there are absolutely no record (neither in the Quran nor, ahem.. the Sahih hadiths) of the Prophet giving any Friday sermon during his 10-year tenure in Medina. Go figure..
\Ahem..

I replied both these comments. Here is what I replied:
Anon Friday 11:38 AM and Anon Friday 2:18 AM,
Allow me to quote some scripts, just for reference only.
I personally cannot vouch for any of these.
I personally cannot vouch for any of these.
Lets see the sequence.
1. The prophet is said to have been born in 570 AD.
2. He is said to have become the prophet at age 40 ie 610 AD.
3. The Israʾ and Miʿraj is said to happen in a single night around 621 AD.
The command to pray was given during this Israk Mikraj in 621 AD.
The command to pray was given during this Israk Mikraj in 621 AD.
The Prophet must have been 51 years old. Or 11 years into his mission.
4. The Hijrah To Medina took place in the 13th year of the mission ie 623 AD.
The prophet must have been 53 years old.
The prophet must have been 53 years old.
(Refer musliminc.com/the-migration-of-the-prophet-saw-to-medina-15152)
5. It was after the Hijrah to Medina that the Prophet is said to have delivered his first Friday sermon at the Masjid Quba in 623 AD ? / 624 AD? ie 14 years into his mission. He was 53 or 54 years old.
6. The Prophet died in 632 AD. He was 62 years (?) old when he died.
So the command to pray came down in 621 AD (the Israk Mikraj event) when the prophet was already 51 years old. 11 years into the prophethood. So for 11 years before that there was no prayer?
Three years later, the Prophet delivered his first Friday sermon at the brand new Masjid Quba which the Prophet himself built in 624 AD. He was 54 years old.
So the prophet must have delivered Friday sermons from age 54 till he died at age 62 in 632 AD. That was 8(?) years only.
8 years x 52 weeks = 416 Fridays sermons.
Where are these 416 Friday sermons?
Todate I have not seen a complete collection of the prophet's Friday sermons.
There should be at least 416 Friday sermons by the prophet.
Where are they?
Why are these 416 Friday sermons by the Prophet not found in the Sahih Bukhari, for example?
The Sahih Bukhari is supposed to be a complete collection of everything the prophet said about the religion.
Fine. So where are the 416 Friday sermons?
The Tablig people say they know the tiniest details of everything the prophet said and did.
They claim to know how the prophet slept - on his right side.
They know how he washed, how he ate, what he ate etc?
But where are the 416 Friday sermons that should have been delivered by the Prophet?
I have raised this before, after which someone published a book about these Friday sermons.
But they had just a few sermons. That's what they said. I don't know.
There was no complete list of at least 416 Friday sermons by the Prophet.
As per your question about the FIVE DAILY prayers they are detailed in the books of fiqah (Fiqh). Hence the details of the FIVE daily prayers differ between the different schools of fiqh.
