So that is Pakatan Harapan’s focus of attacks. They are attacking Muhyiddin, the weak link in Perikatan Nasional. And they are trying to drive a wedge between Umno and PAS. And the purpose of Anwar meeting up with Muhyiddin recently is to see whether Muhyiddin can be persuaded to abandon Muafakat Nasional and “come back” to Pakatan Harapan with Anwar as his new deputy prime minister.
THE CORRIDORS OF POWER
Raja Petra Kamarudin
The younger generation may not be aware of this, but those of us who are pushing 70 (or older, like fellow MCOB Dato’ Kamarul Baharin Abbas) and who have either known Anwar since form 1 (like me), or since the ABIM days, will understand what I am talking about — and that is: Anwar Ibrahim is a boy who has cried wolf too many times.
Many one-time die-hard Anwar loyalists such as Kamarul Baharin Abbas have abandoned Anwar in disgust
Of course, that is all part and parcel of playing politics and most politicians play that game. But after a while people begin to see you for what you really are — which is one big fat zero — and will soon tire of your drama and antics. I mean, there is just so much shit people can take and once it is over-sangat people begin to feel nauseous every time you open your mouth.
Somehow, however, Anwar Ibrahim does not seem to realise that every time he opens his mouth people are put off and cringe in pain. And when he adds his smile to his words…crikey…you lose your mood for sex for a whole month.
If Anwar wants to stay in the game he needs to talk less and do more, not talk more and do nothing. And this is Anwar’s problem: his mouth is his own worst enemy. Actually, if you want to bring Anwar down, you need not do anything. Just sit quiet and watch Anwar sink all by himself due to his serious case of verbal diarrhoea or cerek-berek of the mouth.
The latest “back-door government” fiasco is probably the final nail in Anwar’s coffin (after his 6 kotak, 16 September, langkah Kajang, RM90 million PAS cheque “expose”, etc.). Let’s make no bones about it. The fall of the Pakatan Harapan government in February was not due to Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, as much as they try to spin that it was Mahathir’s fault or misstep. It was Anwar who brought down the Pakatan Harapan government.
For almost two years Anwar got his boys to tekan Mahathir kau-kau. They kept harassing and insulting Mahathir. They announced that when they agreed to make Mahathir the prime minister it was based on the agreement that Mahathir would stay for only two years and then would hand power to Anwar.
When Mahathir said there was no such agreement and he may not hand power to Anwar in May 2020 but probably after Malaysia’s economy improves (or after APEC), Anwar personally announced that a written agreement does indeed exist: meaning that Mahathir is lying.
This picture is worth 1,000 words any time
Then they called for a Pakatan Harapan council meeting on 21st February 2020 and in that meeting they whacked Mahathir. They were no longer prepared to give Mahathir two years until May 2020. They wanted Mahathir out now, that same day. According to Mahathir’s son, Mukhriz, Mahathir cried three times.
In mid-2002, when Mahathir broke down and cried during the Umno general assembly, he resigned as the Umno President and Prime Minister on the spot in front of 3,000 Umno delegates. Hence Anwar knew, if they could make Mahathir cry, he would definitely resign as party leader and prime minister.
So, in that 21st February meeting, they scolded Mahathir, shouted at him, banged table, and insulted him like nobody’s business. Even his own party, Parti Pribumi Bersatu or PPBM, and his own political secretary, Zahid Md Arip, was very nasty towards Mahathir.
In short, they pushed Mahathir to the brink, knowing that he would break down. And Mahathir finally did break down as they had planned and hoped. And Mahathir did resign as they had planned and hoped. But what they also planned and hoped is that Mahathir would name Anwar Ibrahim as his successor and walk out the door and go home.
Catch Mahathir at his weakest and he will break down
However, while Mahathir did break down and resign as they had planned and hoped, he did not name Anwar as his successor. Mahathir just resigned and went home and left the post of successor vacant.
And that was NOT what they had planned and hoped. So, they had to crawl on their hands and knees and beg Mahathir to retract his resignation and come back as prime minister. They could not afford for Mahathir to resign and go home and leave the post of successor vacant. They need Mahathir to stand before 32 million Malaysians and announce that he is resigning and is nominating Anwar as the new prime minister or PM8.
So, Mahathir came back as the interim prime minister, as they had asked him to. And then Mahathir announced that if Muhyiddin Yassin can get the support of the majority of the 222 members of parliament then he (Mahathir) has no problems if he (Muhyiddin) gets appointed the prime minister.
Many of the MPs from Umno, PAS, Sabah, Sarawak, PKR, PPBM, etc., took this cue. Mahathir wants Muhyiddin to become PM8. Hence they all swung over to Muhyiddin and supported Muhyiddin for PM8.
Mahathir can be broken if you know how, and on 21st Feb Anwar broke Mahathir and brought down Pakatan Harapan
Seri Paduka Baginda Yang di-Pertuan Agong then summoned all 222 MPs to the Istana (220 turned up) and Tuanku asked each of the 220 MPs one-by-one who they support as PM8 (Muhyiddin Yassin or Anwar Ibrahim). And 135 of the 220 MPs, or 63%, said they support Muhyiddin.
And that was why Tuanku swore Muhyiddin in as PM8 on 1st March 2020. And all this would not have happened had Anwar left the old man alone and did not treat him like a dog. Anwar was the one who brought down the Pakatan Harapan government. By killing Mahathir, Anwar killed Pakatan Harapan.
Is that not what they did in May 2018? To kill Barisan Nasional they killed Najib Tun Razak. So, when they killed Mahathir in February 2020, they also killed Pakatan Harapan. And now they are trying to kill Muhyiddin Yassin so that they can kill Perikatan Nasional.
Muhyiddin Yassin the weak link is Pakatan Harapan’s focus of attacks
But to kill Perikatan Nasional you cannot just kill Muhyiddin Yassin. You need to kill Muafakat Nasional because Perikatan Nasional’s strength is not in PPBM but in Muafakat Nasional. And Muafakat Nasional is Umno and PAS.
So, you need to break up Muafakat Nasional by making Umno and PAS fight. Only when Umno and PAS fight will Muafakat Nasional break up, and hence Perikatan Nasional will fall.
