MERSING: A group of firemen came to the rescue of a six-year-old boy whose index finger was stuck in a kitchen sink in his house on Jalan Mersing-Endau near Kampung Sawah Dato here.
Mersing Fire and Rescue Department station chief Mohd Azhari Alwi said that they received a distress call at around 11.36pm on Monday (April 20) night.
"The victim's mother called after she discovered that her son's index finger was stuck in the kitchen sink.
"The boy had woken up from sleep to go to the toilet. He then tried to remove something from the sink trap with his index finger and got stuck," he said here on Tuesday (April 21).
Mohd Azhari said they deployed about 15 personnel in one fire engine to save the boy.
"It took us about 15 minutes to cut through the steel sink before the boy's index finger was freed. The operation ended at around 12.07am," he said, adding that the boy was not injured during the ordeal. - Star
