Bukit Aman: 66 police officers, personnel positive for Covid-19

Malaysiakini

CORONAVIRUS | Sixty-six police officers and personnel have tested positive for Covid-19, revealed federal internal security and public order director Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani.
Whereas, he said 1,225 comprising officers, personnel and family members are under self-quarantine.
"Those quarantined are 55 senior officers, 654 lower ranking officers, 35 civil officers and 381 close contacts who are family members," he told a press conference at the Bukit Aman national police headquarters in Kuala Lumpur today.
Earlier, Malaysiakini reported that Sarawak police chief Aidi Ismail tested positive for the virus and is undergoing treatment in the state's general hospital.
On Sunday, Inspector-General of Police Abdul Hamid Bador said one officer had succumbed to Covid-19.
Inspector Mohd Fairos Saberon had died on March 26. His wife had told the media that she and her husband had travelled to Bandung, Indonesia, earlier in the month.
As of today, Malaysia recorded a total 4,119 Covid-19 cases and 65 deaths.
Police officers and personnel are also at risk of being exposed to the virus due to being deployed in large numbers, together with armed forces personnel, to ensure the success of the movement control order (MCO).
The MCO is scheduled to end on April 14 but it could be extended if it fails to meet the objective of flattening the infection curve.
In another development, Acryl Sani said the National Cyber Security Agency had issued a reminder to all government agencies to be wary of cyberattacks.
This is particularly for those planning to use the Zoom software for teleconferencing.
The National Security Council said Zoom had vulnerabilities which can allow hackers to eavesdrop on conversations. - Mkini
