SERDANG: A policeman on duty to enforce the movement control order (MCO) suffered wounds to his face after a tent set up at a roadblock here collapsed during a freak storm.
Serdang OCPD Asst Comm Ismadi Borhan said the constable in his 20s was manning a roadblock along Jalan Besar Putra Permai when the incident occurred at around 12.20pm on Tuesday (April 7).
"The tent at the roadblock collapsed due to strong winds and hit him in the face.
"He suffered head injuries and a broken nose and was rushed to Serdang Hospital," ACP Ismadi said when contacted.
He said the victim received outpatient treatment and was in stable condition.
"I visited the roadblock after the incident, and works to repair the tents have been completed.
"The repairs were assisted by the Malaysian Armed Forces led by Mejar Borhanuddin Mustaparudin," he said.
ACP Ismadi urged everyone to remain at home and comply with the MCO.
"Don't go out unnecessarily or without valid reason as police will not hesitate to take stern action.
"Don't let the sacrifices of our men and women in the force go in vain," he said. - Star
