Court of Appeal to live-stream proceedings in historic move

PUTRAJAYA: In a historic move, the Court of Appeal will live-stream civil appeal hearings tomorrow as court buildings remain out of bounds following the enforcement of the movement control order on March 18.
In a statement, the Federal Court Chief Registrar’s Office said this would allow the public to observe the proceedings live and have continued access to justice.
It added that the judiciary had been conducting proceedings online, with this as its latest step towards live-streaming of cases.
Court of Appeal proceedings will start at 10am. Members of the public can follow these at www.kehakiman.gov.my.
The appeals involve three parties – Zhoa Fangliang, Jin Haifang and Zhu Cunhua – against Syarikat Pengangkutan Satu Hati Sdn Bhd.
Court administrators have live-streamed proceedings before in the Teoh Beng Hock inquest for members of the public who could not enter the courtroom.
Since last year, a special room has also been designated for members of the media who have no access to the courtroom to follow the corruption trials of Najib Razak and his wife Rosmah Mansor. - FMT
