Covid-19 cases climb to 3,662, death toll at 61

CORONAVIRUS | Malaysia today recorded 179 new Covid-19 cases, bringing the total to 3,662 infections, according to Health Ministry director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
Of the 179 new cases, 46 are linked to the Sri Petaling gathering which took place in late February. 
Hisham, at a press conference in Putrajaya this evening, also reported four new deaths, bringing the total to 61 casualties.
The number of Covid-19 patients in the intensive care unit (ICU) is 99 people.
Meanwhile, the patients in ICU requiring ventilators to breath dropped from 50 to 48.
The four new deaths reported today are as follows:
Patient 2,210 (58th death)
A 72-year-old Malaysian man who had a history of diabetes and high blood pressure. He was a close contact of Patient 1031. He was treated at Sarawak General Hospital on March 27. He passed away on April 4 at 1.37pm.
Patient 3,484 (59th death)
A 68-year-old Malaysian man with a history of diabetes. He was treated at Kuala Lumpur Hospital on March 27. He passed away on April 4 at 3.40pm.
Patient 3,073 (60th death)
A 53-year-old Malaysian man. He was treated at Sarawak General Hospital on March 31. He passed away on April 5 at 12.39am.
Patient 2,200 (61st death)
A 66-year-old Malaysian man who had a history of diabetes, high blood pressure and kidney disease. He was treated at Keningau Hospital, Sabah on March 26. He passed away on April 4 at 9.36pm.
Noor Hisham conveyed the Health Ministry's condolences to the family members of the victims.
He urged people to comply with the movement control order as it will influence the decision on whether the partial lockdown needs to be extended.
He also called on the public to practice good personal hygiene and social distancing. - Mkini
