The Finance Ministry has expanded the one-off RM200 student aid under the government's stimulus package, to include Form 6, matriculation, and diploma and diploma equivalent students.
This includes TVET students under the Human Resource Ministry, Youth and Sports Ministry institutes as well as Mara institutes.
With the expansion, 1.5 youths will now benefit from the aid.
Finance Minister Tengku Zafrul Aziz (above) said the ministry will also strive to make the payout by end of April instead of in May.
"The government hopes this will help to ease the burden faced by tertiary students during the movement control order," he said in a statement today.
The RM200 aid was first announced by Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin late last month.
The country is currently under partial lockdown to curb the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.
