Malaysiakini

CORONAVIRUS | The Health Ministry has called on private medical doctors and specialists to apply for a three to six-month contract to join the national fight against Covid-19 pandemic.
In a statement, the ministry said the application was open to Malaysian registered medical practitioners.
“The Health Ministry would like to invite registered medical practitioners (private doctors and private specialists) who are interested and who fulfil the criteria to apply as a contract for service (CFS) to help the ministry provide health services to combat the Covid-19 outbreak,” the ministry said.
It added that payment will be made for those who qualify for CFS “in appreciation for the service rendered”.
According to the statement, specialists would be contracted for up to six months, with a payment of up to RM12,000 a month or RM400 a day. Meanwhile, private doctors will be contracted up to three months, for RM6,000 a month or RM200 a day.
Among the criteria stipulated are that the applicants must be Malaysians; aged no older than 65 for specialists or 60 for doctors, and must be registered with the National Specialist Register (NSR) and Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) respectively.
Interested specialists must also possess at least three years of experience, while doctors must have at least four years of experience as a medical officer.
Deadline for application is April 27.
The ministry, however, stressed that these appointments were temporary in light of the current health crisis. - Mkini
