Hulu Selangor becomes 25th Covid-19 red zone

Malaysiakini

CORONAVIRUS | Hulu Selangor is the latest district to become a Covid-19 red zone, bringing the total number of red zones to 25.
A district designated as a red zone means it has more than 40 Covid-19 cases.
Hulu Selangor, which had previously recorded 34 cases, now has 43 cases. It is one of six red zones in Selangor. The others are Hulu Langat, Petaling, Klang, Gombak and Sepang, according to data released by the Health Ministry.
Kuala Selangor and Kuala Langat are in the orange zone with 29 and 23 cases respectively. Orange zones are those with 20 to 40 Covid-19 cases.
The last district in Selangor is Sabak Berham, which has 11 Covid-19 cases. This puts it in the yellow zone, districts with less than 20 cases.
There are no green zones in Selangor, districts with zero cases.
Nationally, the worst-hit red zones are the districts of Lembah Pantai (424 cases), Hulu Langat (366 cases), Petaling (314 cases), Kuching (196 cases), Seremban (185 cases), Kluang (175 cases), Johor Bahru (159 cases), Klang (152 cases), Gombak (121 cases), Kepong (110 cases) and Titiwangsa (101 cases).
The remaining red zones are Kinta (97 cases), Kota Bharu (85 cases), Tawau (67 cases), Hilir Perak (66 cases), Cheras (64 cases), Jerantut (63 cases), Sepang (59 cases) Jasin (54 cases), Rembau (51 cases), Batu Pahat (50 cases), Kuantan (50 cases), Putrajaya (47 cases) and Kota Samarahan (45 cases).
Malaysia has been under a partial lockdown via a movement control order (MCO) since March 18 to curb Covid-19.
The MCO was supposed to end on March 31 but was extended until April 14.
Under the MCO, all non-essential businesses and services must close while people are only allowed to leave their homes for approved reasons.
Foreigners are also not allowed into the country while Malaysians cannot leave.
Going forward, the government has indicated that it plans to tailor measures against Covid-19 according to the colour of the zones. - Mkini
