IGP denies giving special permission to woman to travel to Kuantan

Malaysiakini

Inspector-General of Police Abdul Hamid Bador has denied being contacted by anyone for special permission to make unnecessary travel during the movement control order period (MCO).
This is after a social media post went viral, with a woman claiming that her father had tried to contact Hamid (photo) to get permission to travel to Kuantan from Kuala Lumpur.
"Except for cases involving welfare for the disabled and sick, I have never been contacted by anyone to get an exception to make any unnecessary travel during the MCO period.
"All regulations under the MCO must be followed by everyone," he said in a statement to the media today.
Earlier FMT cited the top cop as saying police is tracking down the woman who made the posting to record her statement.
He said it was not clear if the woman had actually violated the MCO.
In the posting, the woman claimed that she was friends with Hamid, and had tried to make a call to get her permission to travel to Kuantan.
However, she said Hamid did not answer the call. - Mkini
