Kota Samarahan MP tests positive for Covid-19

Malaysiakini

CORONAVIRUS | Kota Samarahan MP Rubiah Wang has reportedly tested positive for Covid-19, joining a growing list of Sarawak politicians.
The Borneo Post quoted state Youth and Sports Minister Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah as confirming the matter at a press conference yesterday on the Covid-19 situation in Sarawak.
Abdul Karim was acting for Deputy Chief Minister and Sarawak Disaster Management Committee chairperson Douglas Uggah Embas who is now under home quarantine after coming into contact with a person who tested positive for Covid-19.
He reportedly said that several state leaders including Deputy Chief Minister Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, and three full ministers - Fatimah Abdullah, Dr Sim Kui Hian, Stephen Rundi Utom - were also given orders to undergo self-quarantine at home.
Sarawak politicians who have tested positive so far are state Assistant Minister of Transport Jerip Susil, who is also Mambong assemblyman, Sarikei MP Andrew Wong and Bandar Kuching MP Kelvin Yii.
Wong is reportedly still being treated at Sibu Hospital while Yii was recently discharged after a full recovery.
According to The Borneo Post, Jerip reportedly confirmed he had been admitted to the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) on Thursday night for treatment, and that he was infected through contact with someone in the Good News Fellowship Conference Church cluster.
Since then, Tasik Biru assemblyperson Henry Harry Jinep and Bukit Semuja assemblyperson John Ilus had also publicly announced that they are in self-quarantine after coming in contact with Jerip during recent district disaster management meetings in Bau and Serian respectively. - Mkini
