LHDN resumes operations on April 23, but only for some services

PETALING JAYA: The Inland Revenue Board (LHDN) says it will resume operations on Thursday (April 23) but for limited services.
IRB is an agency under the Finance Ministry which has been classified as essential services and must continue.
"In relation to this, LHDN's premises (except Revenue Service Centres and Urban Transformation Centres) will begin operations on April 23 and will offer limited services until the movement control order (MCO) phase three ends to ensure important services are implemented," it said a statement issued by LHDN's chief executive office on Wednesday (April 22).
However, LHDN stressed that it would prioritise online customer services in line with an effort to break the Covid-19 chain of infections.
"The e-Filing and Bantuan Perihatin Nasional (BPN) counters will not be opened.
"Filling up of the e-Filing and new applications and BPN appeals can be made personally online through the existing system," the statement added.
It appealed to the public to only visit its branches only if it was really necessary as there were other means available.
On April 3, IRB resumed operations of its stamp duty counters at 34 of its branches.
It also extended the deadline for individuals filing their tax returns online to May 15.
