Lowest number of new cases since MCO at 69, two deaths

CORONAVIRUS | The country recorded the lowest number of new Covid-19 cases since the beginning of the movement control order (MCO) on March 18.
According to Health Ministry director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, there were 69 new cases between noon yesterday and today, out of 9,717 tests conducted.
This is only the second time Noor Hisham has announced a two-digit increase during the MCO period so far.
The total number of Covid-19 cases stood at 5,251 while the number of people still being treated were 2,198.
Noor Hisham said another 201 people were discharged over the past 24 hours.
This marked the fifth day in a row in which the number of people discharged exceeded the number of new cases.
The total number of people discharged stood at 2,967 which meant that 56.5 percent of Covid-19 patients have recovered.
There are currently 51 Covid-19 patients under intensive care of which 26 require ventilators.
Meanwhile, Noor Hisham said another two patients died due to complications related to Covid-19.
Patient 5,064 (85th death)
Malaysian male, 84, with a history of other illnesses. He had close contact with Patient 4,657 who is linked to the PUI Bali cluster. The deceased was treated at a private hospital before being transferred to the Tengku Ampuan Afzan hospital in Pahang on April 15. He passed away at 3.30pm yesterday.
Patient 5,183 (86th death)
Malaysian male, 85, with a history of other illnesses. He had closed contact with Patient 2,321. He was treated at the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre on April 1 and passed away at 8.56pm last night.
