MIC Youth: Criticism against Saravanan’s e-poster in Tamil politically driven

Malaysiakini

The criticism against an e-poster of Human Resources Minister M Saravanan wishing RTM in conjunction with its 74th anniversary in the Tamil language is politically driven, said MIC youth.
Its chief R Thinalan urged those who criticised the poster to stop playing political games in regard to trivial issues.
"There's no need for playing political games on trivial issues when the country and the people are facing Covid-19," he said.
The poster was uploaded on April 1 on social media.
Thinalan explained that the wordings on the poster were translated from Bahasa Malaysia.
"If you look closely, Bahasa Malaysia is the priority, while the Tamil (used in the poster) was a direct translation from Bahasa Malaysia.
"It's clear that the office of the Human Resources Ministry has no hidden agenda in this matter.
"It's just to show the variety in Malaysian cultures," he said in a Facebook post today.
Earlier, Berjasa opined that the action of using the Tamil language on social media in all official matters is a breach of article 152 of the federal constitution in regard to the position of the Bahasa Malaysia as the official language. - Mkini
