CORONAVIRUS | The Communications and Multimedia Ministry today announced an initiative to help Malaysians cope with the movement control order (MCO) by providing an online concert platform for selected local artistes to perform for the people.
In a statement, the ministry dubbed its initiative as #MuzikDiRumah (music at home), involving household names such as Jamal Abdillah, Ayda Jebat, Stacy, Soo Wincci, Hazama and groups Meet Uncle Hussain and Hujan, among others.
"The artistes and musicians as well as other local entertainment personalities would be performing online on this website.
"This effort was inspired by the #togetherathome project by international artistes, with the aim of entertaining local music fans and encourage them to stay at home," said the statement.
The platform would also be used to disseminate positive and important messages to the public.
According to the ministry, over 300 artistes, production crews and producers would be involved in a series of programmes that they have planned for #MuzikDiRumah.
These include eight mega concerts of 45 minutes each featuring famous entertainers, 38 mini concerts of 30 minutes each and 84 performances.
It said the website had started its operations yesterday.
Checks on the website found that it had kickstarted with a showcase performance by DJ Fuzz. - Mkini
