Nadma receives over RM5.5m in cash and kind

CORONAVIRUS | The National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma) today received over RM5.5 million in cash and kind from government and private agencies to be used for frontliners fighting to stem the spread of Covid-19.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Special Functions) Mohd Redzuan Md Yusof, who represented Nadma in receiving the contributions, expressed gratitude to the donors and welcomed any form of contribution from any party.

“The government welcomes any form of contribution, even if it is RM1 we will accept and we will channel it as best we can to those involved in (controlling) the spread of Covid-19.

“I would also like to congratulate the Nadma team for contributing so much as part of the frontline to curb the spread of this virus,” he told reporters after the ceremony to hand over the aid today.

Also present were Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Special Functions) Mastura Yazid and Nadma director-general Mohtar Mohd Abd Rahman.

Among the contributors was the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council (Maiwp), which donated personal protective equipment (PPE), such as three million pieces of disposable face masks, 500 units of non-contact infrared thermometers and 2,500 bottles of sanitisers amounting to RM5.05 million.

Its contributions were handed over by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Zulkifli Mohamad.

Apart from that, the Inland Revenue Board, represented by chief executive officer  Sabin Samitah, presented RM383,500 in cash while Pharmaceutical Association of Malaysia president Chin Keat Chyuan handed over 50,000 pieces of face masks worth RM72,500.

Meanwhile, telecommunications company Celcom Axiata Bhd, represented by chief enterprise business officer Azlan Zainal Abidin, donated 5,000 prepaid cards worth RM25,000.
