National Blood Centre makes public appeal for blood donations

Malaysiakini

CORONAVIRUS | The National Blood Centre has made an appeal to the public to donate blood.
In what is believed to be a mass alert text message, the National Blood Centre urged blood donors to continue donating blood amid the movement control order (MCO) meant to curb the transmission of Covid-19.

"Present research has shown that there is no transmission (of Covid-19) through donating or receiving blood.

"We ask you to donate blood immediately to save patients' lives," read the text message.

The message then asked potential donors to visit the National Blood Centre at Jalan Tun Razak or the Midvalley Donation Suite or the Puspanita Donation Suite in Putrajaya.

However, they said the message should be ignored if an individual has donated blood recently.

The MCO, initiated on March 18 is expected to end on April 14. However, it has been implied that the MCO will be extended further. - Mkini
