My comments :
Ok lah it is a very good move by the government to gazette 472 places as quarantine centers. If there is an explosion in the Corona Virus cases then it is better to be prepared.
But FIVE STAR HOTELS? For certain taxpayers money is going to be used to pay these FIVE STAR hotels for providing their space.
The quarantine is required by law. Therefore the government has to provide places for the quarantine, food, laundry etc.
But the government has to pay the FIVE STAR hotels with taxpayers money.
Just curious - who gets to be quarantined at these FIVE STAR hotels versus say being quarantined at the Stadium Sultan Abdul Halim, Alor Setar, Kedah?
I mean do the people get a choice? And I get the feeling that these FIVE STAR Hotels (plus all the 472 places) have already been booked.
Meaning they are all ready and waiting to be "occupied".
Meaning the meter has started running already.
Maksudnya they have started charging their room rates.
Do correct me if I am wrong.
Hotels all over the world are ALMOST FULLY empty now.
5 star, 4 star, 3 star etc.
So this does appear like a bailout of the FIVE STAR hotels.
What happens to the 4 star and the 3 star hotels?
I can tell you with certainty that the government alone has numerous premises, hostels, empty training centres, empty colleges, schools, empty buildings which can be easily converted as quarantine centers.
Malaysia is a small country. Most places are within a few hours driving distance of each other. If we have just a few main quarantine centers around the country then it should be enough.
Lets say government owned (even state government) stadiums, sports arena, nurses institute etc in each state capital (Alor Star, Ipoh, Melaka, KK, Kuching) and some larger towns in the states are converted into quarantine centres then it will be much easier to manage (in terms of medical personnel, logistics, monitoring, access to professional personnel etc).
What about Armed Forces Camps and Armed Forces Hospitals?
There is no war going on.
There is nothing secret about Sukhois that cannot fly.
You can see everything about Sukhois / MIGs / T90s on YouTube.
Instead the government will now need medical personnel in 472 different quarantine centers around the country !!
Plus government owned premises can be much cheaper.
Plus whatever money is paid goes BACK to the government.
Goes back to the taxpayer.
Dalam keadaan negara susah, rakyat susah ada juga orang kaya yang jadi lagi kaya - dengan makan duit rakyat. Easy taxpayers' money.
I should have gone into the 5 Star hotel business.
Which hotels in Alor Setar are quarantine centers?
