RTD to join police at roadblocks

Malaysiakini

CORONAVIRUS | The Road Transport Department will be joining the police at roadblocks enforcing the movement control order (MCO) nationwide.
Defence Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said this was on the request of the RTD themselves.
At present, motorists with expired licences and road tax are exempted from action throughout the MCO period.
However, they must have a valid insurance policy.
Renewals for the expired license and road tax must be made within 30 days after the MCO ends.
Meanwhile, Ismail said that 300 people had been arrested for violating the order yesterday, bringing the total to 7,205.
Also yesterday, 518 people were charged for MCO-related offences.
Ismail said police have begun issuing RM1,000 compounds to violators.
The compound must be paid within two weeks or court action will be initiated. - Mkini
