Sabah Health Dept conducts Covid-19 screening in targeted areas

Malaysiakini

CORONAVIRUS | The Sabah Health Department is conducting a health screening exercise in targeted areas in the state to detect Covid-19 cases in communities.
Thus, members of the public are advised to cooperate and not to try to avoid it just because they do not want to be quarantined, said its director Dr Christina Rundi.
“Members of the public also should not show negative attitudes towards those who are quarantined as this could complicate the screening process,” she said in a statement today.
As of Friday, 75 individuals have been placed in 24 quarantine centres in the state, bringing the number of people who were still in the centres to 681, she said.
On the same day, 127 people were allowed to leave the centres, bringing the total of quarantine discharge to 1,196, she added.
Christina said Sabah recorded 10 new cases yesterday with three in Lahad Datu, two in Tawau and one each in Beaufort, Kota Kinabalu, Penampang, Sandakan and Tuaran, bringing the total cases in the state to 303.
Meanwhile, she said the Mental Health Psychosocial Support team in Keningau is offering intervention and moral support sessions to Covid-19 patients, those under self-quarantine and health personnel in the district.
“The service opens daily, from 8am to 5pm and can be reached at 016-3867591,” she added.
