CORONAVIRUS | Sarawak Assistant Transport Minister Jerip Susil is now warded at Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) in Kuching after testing positive for Covid-19.
According to online news portal The Borneo Post, the Mambong assemblyperson was admitted into the hospital last night.
“It’s true. I am now in SGH and will be quarantined here for 14 days,” he told Utusan Borneo, as quoted by Borneo Post.
Jerip explained that he was infected following close contact with a person in the Good News Fellowship Conference Church cluster.
He added that one of his workers contracted Covid-19 from that cluster, and then spread the virus to him.
The Borneo Post also reported that Sarawak Deputy Chief Minister Douglas Uggah Embas is currently under self-quarantine after close contact with Jerip at a recent meeting.
The State Disaster Management Committee chairperson’s press officer Edward Subeng confirmed that he as well as Uggah were directed to undergo a 14-day quarantine order.
The online news portal also said it was learned that other state department heads who attended the same meeting as Jerip had also been issued with a quarantine notice. - Mkini
