The third phase of the movement control order (MCO) which began yesterday has seen 334 people in Selangor arrested for flouting the order.
This was shared by the Selangor contingent police headquarters spokesperson Muhammad Yazid Muhammad Yew in a media conference in Shah Alam today.
"Yesterday alone, the police arrested 334 people including foreigners.
"They were arrested at roadblocks and during snap checks," he said.
While the country is already in the third phase of the MCO, Yazid said there are still certain quarters who are stubborn.
"For instance, the police already said that only one person in a household can go out to buy groceries, but during the checks, we found out that more than one person per household came out together," he said.
As for the cumulative arrests since the first phase of the MCO which began on March 18, Yazid said the police have arrested 2,255 people.
Face mask frauds and cyber-crime cases
For face mask frauds, Yazid said 150 cases were recorded involving RM1.933 million in losses up until yesterday.
From March 18 until April 15, the Selangor police have also recorded 467 cyber-crime cases including telecommunications and e-commerce fraud, whereas only 187 cases were recorded in the same period last year.
Yazid also advised the public to adhere to the MCO, reiterating that there will be no more compound notice issued against violators.
"Be it any violation, we will make an arrest and the investigation paper will be opened," he said. - Mkini
