Dr Sim Kui Hian, Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, Douglas Uggah Embas, Fatimah Abdullah.
KUCHING: Housing and Local Government Minister Dr Sim Kui Hian is under 14-day self-quarantine after attending a meeting with an individual who later tested positive for Covid-19.
Sim said the order had come from the state health department, which identified him as having been in close contact with the person in question.
“After a few close calls, despite all the precautions, one of the persons attending the state disaster management committee sub-committee meeting on March 27 was diagnosed positive for Covid-19,” he said in a Facebook post today, adding however that he had not tested positive for the virus himself.
This comes alongside reports that Assistant Transport Minister Dr Jerip Susil has tested positive for Covid-19. Jerip was admitted to Sarawak General Hospital here yesterday.
Deputy Chief Minister Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, Sarawak disaster management committee chairman cum Deputy Chief Minister Douglas Uggah Embas, and Welfare, Community Well Being, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Fatimah Abdullah have also been ordered to undergo self-quarantine as they attended a meeting with Susil on March 27.
None of them have tested positive or shown symptoms of the virus. -FMT
