Members of the American Malaysian Chamber of Commerce (Amcham) have pledged more than RM5 million in cash and kind to help Malaysia battle against the Covid-19 outbreak.
In a statement today, the US Embassy said the hitherto donated supplies include masks, nitrile gloves, sanitisers, computers, thermometers, reverse osmosis machines and personal protective equipment.
According to Acham's donation website, they are calling upon members to donate cash, inventory or supplies for Malaysian frontline health workers.
The donation drive was done in collaboration with the US embassy.
US ambassador to Malaysia Kamala Shirin Lakhdhir (above) said American companies are an important part of communities throughout Malaysia.
"During these challenging times, I am inspired by watching how Malaysians are rallying to support one another and their communities.
"As ambassador, I am proud that American businesses and their employees are doing their part as well," she said.
She said US companies have a long and proud history of operating in Malaysia which have employed generations of Malaysians.
"These contributions showcase our companies' long histories of generosity.
"And as always, I am proud by this display of CSR, the hallmark which sets apart American businesses," she said. - Mkini
