DAP lawmaker lodges report against intimate video share threat

Malaysiakini

Caretaker Sabah youth and sports minister Phoong Jin Zhe today lodged a police report against a netizen who threatened to share online an intimate video of the lawmaker and his female friend.
Taking to social media later, he linked the incident to the upcoming state elections to be held on Sept 26.
"With the state elections slowly gaining traction, local politics is beginning to manifest its filth. I am deeply saddened as what is to come may be the dirtiest elections yet," Phoong (above) said in a Facebook post.
"A netizen posted a photo of me and my girlfriend in various Facebook groups asking members to share his post in exchange for a 'sex tape' allegedly featuring me and my girlfriend. This went viral on the Internet," he said.
"Never had I expected that Sabah politics would be so low and dishonourable. No wonder our young people flee in the face of our hate politics," said Phoong who is the incumbent Luyang state assemblyperson and Sabah DAP Youth chief.
He also expressed regret that his girlfriend had been being dragged into the fray and said he was saddened that she had to endure such pressure.
In his police report, Phoong said the netizen claimed to possess an intimate video of him and his girlfriend.
"I consulted my lawyer and reserve my right to take legal action," said the 31-year-old.
Phoong's police report was lodged at the Karamunsing police station in Kota Kinabalu.
"At 11 am today, when I was working in my office at Luyang, I saw a post uploaded on Facebook by (a netizen) with the account username 'Jordan Lim' together with an image of me and my girlfriend," said Phoong in his police report.
According to him, the netizen had said in the post: "Hot news! Just got their sex video! Who wants (me) to share just PM. Later, I will send the video (inbox)."
Phoong urged the police to take action against the netizen whom he claimed had slandered him and his girlfriend.
