Kuching slips out Covid-19 red zone after drop in active cases

Perak, Penang and Terengganu remain the only green states with no active Covid-19 cases.
PETALING JAYA: Kuching in Sarawak is no longer a Covid-19 red zone after the number of cases dropped to below 40 today.
A health ministry infographic showed that there were 39 cases in the district against 43 recorded yesterday.
A district is classified as a red zone when it has more than 40 active cases.
However, Sarawak still has the highest number of active cases in the country, followed by Johor (31) and Kedah (19).
The green states with no active cases are Perak, Penang and Terengganu.
To date, 8,999 Covid-19 cases have been recorded in the country with 125 deaths. A total of 8,664 patients have recovered while 210 are still being treated.
in Kuching, the state disaster management committee today said people leaving Sarawak to go to Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Labuan do not require police permission.
It said the movement control order only involves travel between Zone One (yellow or red zone) and Zone Two (green zone).
“Movement control in Sarawak is divided into two zones, namely Zone One covering Kuching, Samarahan and Serian divisions, and Zone Two covering Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei, Sibu, Kapit, Mukah, Bintulu, Miri and Limbang divisions,” Bernama quoted the committee as saying in a statement.
An individual moving from Zone One to Zone Two and vice versa must obtain written permission in advance from the nearest police station.
Sarawak did not record any Covid-19 positive cases today, with the total number of cases in the state remaining at 678. - FMT
