Pejuang submits registration application, unveils logo

Malaysiakini

Mukhriz Mahathir hoped that the Registrar of Society (ROS) would expedite Parti Pejuang Tanah Air (Pejuang)'s application to be formally registered as a party.
"This evening, we, the seven founders, had filed the application to register Parti Pejuang Tanah Air to ROS.
"We had applied via online and today we submitted the hardcopy (of the application).
"ROS will scrutinise the details in the application to make sure we fulfil all the requirements of the Societies Act.
"We hope that ROS would expedite the approval so that we can play our roles directly in the country's democracy as a registered party," he told the media in Putrajaya today.
The seven co-founders are namely Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Mukhriz Mahathir, Marzuki Yahya, Maszlee Malik, Amiruddin Hamzah, Shahruddin Md Salleh, and Mohamad Nuhairi Rahmat.
They were all former Bersatu personalities. Nuhairi is former Alor Setar Bersatu division chief.
Those who were at ROS today include Maszlee and Marzuki. However, Mahathir was not present.
Pejuang unveils logo
Mukhriz also showed the party's logo in a form of jawi character pa with three dots on it to the media.
"Pa stands for Pejuang (fighter) and three dots represent iman (faith), Islam, and Rukun Negara (National Principles).
"We hope this will be the symbol of fight among the Malays, and generally, Malaysians.
"(The logo) also looks like a shield (indirectly means) to defend the dignity of the people and the Malay," said the former Kedah menteri besar.
Mukhriz, who is expected to be the president of the party, said upon approval by the ROS, the founders will hold a meeting to appoint 21 executive council members.
Asked about the feedback for the new party, Mukhriz claimed that many individuals had met them in person or inquired through WhatsApp about joining the party.
Meanwhile, Mukhriz said Pejuang would not contest in Sabah snap election as they fully support Warisan.
Last week, when announcing the formation of the new party, Mahathir explained that it would uphold Bersatu's original anti-corruption struggle.
He said the party would not align with Pakatan Harapan or Perikatan Nasional (PN).
In February, Bersatu, led by its president Muhyiddin Yassin, left Harapan and formed an alliance with Umno, Pas, GPS, and Azmin’s faction to form PN.
It led to the collapse of the 22-month old Harapan government. Mahathir and several Bersatu leaders aligned with him, however, opposed Muhyiddin's move.
Mahathir's faction is also currently supporting the Slim by-election’s independent candidate Amir Khusyairi Mohamad Tanusi.
Mahathir: We won't use money as bait
Subsequently, Mahathir, in his statement said his party will fight to eradicate money politics.
"To eradicate money politics, back to developing the country, and fight with dignity for the happiness of the people.
"We will never use money as bait, just want to create opportunities to earn honest money," he said.
The Langkawi MP said Pejuang is needed based on the current political landscape, which is focusing on money on position instead of fighting for the country.
He said in the past, PAS had labelled Umno as "kafir" (non-believer), but now the duo had joined hands under Muafakat.
As for Bersatu, Mahathir said the party was formed to fight kleptocracy, but now the party relied on kleptocrats to obtain enough numbers to form the government.
"[..]..now even Bersatu used the money to buy 'frogs' to get them to support Bersatu.
"Those who didn't jump ship would have their memberships and positions removed," he said.
He added that PN doesn't exist as it is not a registered coalition, and claimed that Umno will fight Bersatu in the upcoming general election.
"Is this what you call comrades?" Mahathir asked. - Mkini
