RM10 million to aid traders at Uda malls

Rent exemptions and discounts are among the incentives for Uda mall tenants.
SEREMBAN: An allocation of RM10 million in incentives has been set aside by Uda Holdings to assist 1,500 bumiputera entrepreneurs who do business at Uda shopping malls in major cities.
Among the Uda-supervised shopping malls are the Angsana Malls in Johor Bahru, Ipoh and Seremban, and the Urban Transformation Centre in Kuala Lumpur.
Uda chairman, Jalaluddin Alias, said that as a government-linked company, Uda was responsible for helping bumiputera entrepreneurs, especially during the current coronavirus pandemic.
“The incentives include a one-month rent exemption for tenants selling non-essential items and a 50% discount for tenants selling essential goods, during the movement control order period.
“Besides that, a 20% reduction in rent is also given to tenants after the MCO expires until September while tenants are still allowed to have arrears for three months until Sept 30,” he said here.
Jalaluddin, who is also MP for Jelebu, was here for an Uda event to distribute sacrificial meat for the Aidiladha celebrations.
“The animals for sacrifice were also distributed to selected suraus and mosques in Selangor, Penang, Johor, Pahang, Terengganu, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka and Sarawak and the meat channelled to asnaf and community members around the area,” he said. - FMT
