SLIM RIVER: Umno will hold a meeting with Pas tomorrow to further discuss the Islamic party's participation in Perikatan Nasional (PN).
Umno president, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, said he will meet with Pas president, Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang, at Dewan Tan Sri Ghazali Jawi here, at 9pm.
The Bagan Datuk Member of Parliament said the powwow follows Pas and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) registering their alignment under the proposed Parti Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition with the Registrar of Societies (RoS).
"We will meet tomorrow night with Muafakat Nasional and I will meet Pas president (Abdul Hadi) in the meeting.
"We have a message to deliver. As we all know, Pas and Bersatu have registered as official coalition (members) in PN.
"This will be further explained tomorrow. Of course… MN will be enhanced, not only by Umno and Pas, but also through Barisan Nasional's (BN) components, such as MCA and MIC," he said.
Zahid told reporters this after attending the Ziarah Kasih Program at Felda Besout 2 here, today.
On Aug 19, Pas secretary-general Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan affirmed that the Islamist party had become part of a pro tem committee with Bersatu, seeking to officially register Perikatan Nasional (PN) as a coalition. - NST
