PAS does not appear to want to take sides as tensions between allies Umno and Bersatu escalate.
In a brief press conference in Terengganu today, PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang indicated support for both sides.
"We want to strengthen Perikatan Nasional (PN) and Muafakat Nasional," he said briefly.
Muafakat is an alliance that PAS struck with Umno, which it is formally a part of through a charter that both parties signed.
PN, meanwhile, is a loose coalition headed by Bersatu that governs Putrajaya together with Umno-BN and PAS, with support from GPS.
Umno leaders have grown resentful towards Bersatu after ceding the Sabah chief minister position to the latter and giving up strongholds that were originally won by Umno in 2018 to those who defected to Bersatu.
There have been calls by Umno leaders for the party to quit PN.
PAS did not contest in the Sabah election. But before being dropped from the candidate list, the party was undecided on contesting under the BN or PN logo.
Meanwhile, in light of the Covid-19 pandemic worsening, Hadi ordered all of PAS' public programmes to be postponed.
Programmes that can't be postponed must adhere to standard operating procedures, he added.
Likewise, Hadi hoped that celebrations to mark the anniversary of the Muafakat charter being signed could also be postponed.
Hadi refused to entertain questions regarding criticism of a proposal for PAS to have an appointed assemblyperson in Sabah. - Mkini
