Penggerak Komuniti Negara, a group believed to be allied with Bersatu supreme council member Azmin Ali, has lodged 46 police reports against PKR president Anwar Ibrahim.
The group claimed that Anwar had committed sedition by claiming that he had the numbers to form a new government.
"(Anwar's claim) was not only an attempt to threaten political stability but also the economy.
"It is also in violation of Article 43(4) of the Federal Constitution," Nor Hizwan Ahmad, the group's leader, told reporters after lodging a report in Subang Jaya, Selangor today.
Article 43(4) states that a prime minister who ceases to command majority support of the Dewan Rakyat shall tender the resignation of the cabinet unless the Yang di-Pertuan Agong dissolves Parliament.
Hizwan (photo), who is also Bersatu supreme council member Zuraida Kamaruddin's aide, said the Yang di-Pertuan Agong was the only person who could determine if Muhyiddin Yassin still commanded the majority, not Anwar.
"Who is Anwar to do so? Our purpose in lodging the reports is to put an end to this madness," said Hizwan, adding that navigating the pandemic and reviving the economy should be the national priority now.
Hizwan also accused Anwar of committing "keganasan" (terror) against the nation's security and economy.
He also urged Anwar to not disturb Muhyiddin's administration and wait for the voters to decide who should form the next government.
Anwar claimed last Wednesday that he had secured a "solid and convincing" majority to form a new government. It has been 10 days, and he has yet to back up his claim.
However, comments by Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had lent some credence to the claim. Zahid said he was informed by some Umno MPs that they were backing Anwar for the top job.
So far, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong had not commented beyond acknowledging that Anwar had sought an audience. The Yang di-Pertuan Agong is currently seeking medical treatment. - Mkini
