Bukit Gasing assemblyperson Rajiv Rishyakaran together with StandUpMalaysia have launched a campaign to help university students get laptops.
Rajiv said the programme will help facilitate donations of laptops from the public, to students who need it for online classes.
"Classes are now being done online. Some students don't have laptops, some have to share it with their siblings.
"So, for a start, we hope to get laptop contributions from the public to help them, we'll even accept used laptops," he said at a press conference at his office in Petaling Jaya today.
StandUpMalaysia representative Rheanne Wong Li An said they have already received 50 applications from students in need of laptops.
On Oct 2, the Higher Education Ministry advised universities to postpone on-campus registration for new and existing students.
The ministry urged varsities to conduct the registration, as well as classes online instead.
