COVID-19 | SMK Mutiara in Labuan has been temporarily closed for sanitisation after one of its students tested positive for Covid-19, said Labuan Health Department director Dr Ismuni Bohari.
“The student lives in a construction kongsi (squatter house) with 40 over people, and he and seven other individuals who live there tested positive.
“He went to school several days before we got his result this morning. It’s true the school has been closed temporarily for sanitisation,” he told Bernama.
He said the student’s parents had tested negative so far.
All teachers from the school also underwent swab tests at the Labuan Co-Curriculum Centre today as part of island-wide Covid-19 testing for teachers, he added.
SMK Mutiara had issued a notice to parents this morning asking them to fetch their children at 9.30am following the school closure.
Teachers of the school have been ordered to undergo a 14-day home quarantine and to conduct online teaching.
