The government today announced an enhanced movement control order (MCO) for the Kepayan prison and the prison officers quarters at Kampung Matambai in Sabah, said Defence Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
The enhanced MCO for the two areas will start tomorrow until Nov 2.
This will affect 3,511 individuals, including 2,914 prisoners and 597 prison staff.
No one is allowed to leave or enter the two areas throughout the enhanced MCO. Basic needs and food assistance will be provided.
The other standard operating procedures will be the same as the ones for previously announced enhanced MCOs, said the minister.
Previous areas that were placed under enhanced MCO include the Penang remand prison and officers quarters, the Alor Setar prison, as well as Felda Umas, Tawau, among others.
The enhanced MCO for Kepayan prison and its officers quarters comes after the Health Ministry announced the new Kepayan prison cluster yesterday, with a total of 49 cases as of Oct 18. - Mkini
