Jaya Grocer outlet closed after staff member tests positive for Covid-19

Jaya Grocer’s Mutiara Tropicana outlet has closed for sanitisation and all the staff to undergo Covid-19 tests.

PETALING JAYA: Jaya Grocer’s Mutiara Tropicana outlet has closed after one of its staff tested positive for Covid-19 yesterday.

In a statement, the management of Jaya Grocer said the staff member had been under self-quarantine since Oct 6 as the employee was staying at the Tropicana Golf Club hostel, which is currently under lockdown.

It added that no other employee stayed in that hostel and the patient had not been at the outlet’s premises or in contact with fellow colleagues since Oct 6.

“As a precautionary measure, we will be closing Jaya Grocer Mutiara Tropicana on Oct 18 in order to test all Jaya Grocer staff at the Mutiara Tropicana branch.”

It said the outlet would remain closed until all test results had been released.

“Meanwhile, deep cleaning and sanitising will be carried out at the outlet. We deeply apologise for any inconvenience caused by the temporary closure and we kindly seek your cooperation and understanding during these unprecedented times,” it said in a statement today.

The Klang Valley has seen a spike in Covid-19 infections of late, with various malls in the region reporting positive cases.

The ongoing partial lockdown has seen most malls emptier than usual as members of the public have been urged to remain at home during this period. - FMT
