Kedah MIC claims PAS-led state govt biased

Kedah MIC today claimed that the PAS-led state administration is biased and does not respect the friendships among Perikatan Nasional (PN) component parties.

Its chairperson S Ananthan claimed that the state government had sidelined BN, notably its component party MIC, from several appointments such as the member of the local council, the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK), and community activist (PeKT).

There were also no representatives from the party in GLC, as well as an officer or special adviser to Menteri Besar for the Indian community, he said.

"PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan recently said all parties have to find ways to amicably work together in Gabungan Rakyat Sabah.

"There were disagreements surfaced following the appointment of PAS (Sabah secretary Aliakbar Gulasan) as an assemblyperson although it did not contest during the state election.

"This is the spirit shown by parties in Sabah. But how is the Kedah PAS attitude here? It seems that PAS did not walk the talk," he told Malaysiakini.

Ananthan claimed that the state government led by PAS had shut its door from other parties in Perikatan Nasional to join its leadership.

Malaysiakini has contacted Menteri Besar Sanusi Md Nor for comment.

Sanusi took over the helm from Mukhriz Mahathir after Pakatan Harapan, which previously led the state, collapsed in February following the defections of Bersatu and two PKR assemblypersons to PN.

Ananthan expressed hopes that the state government would work together with MIC.

"I hope PAS here can be like its counterpart in Sabah. MIC, too, can play its roles in strengthening the state government machinery," Ananthan said. - Mkini
