Kelantan detects 93 who had close contact with Covid-19 patients

A total of 93 individuals who were in close contact with Covid-19 patients have been detected in Kelantan, said state Health Department director Dr Zaini Hussin.

"Of this figure, 89 were screened and got negative results in their first and second tests," said Zaini (above).

He was speaking to the media after a weekly special state security committee meeting in Kota Bharu today.

Covid-19 resurfaced again in Kelantan on Sept 23. This occurred after the state was clear of the virus for a total of 57 days. As of yesterday, nine active cases were reported in Kelantan.

"Four of the recorded cases were linked to trips in Sabah while the others were their close contacts," said Zaini.

"We have taken the approach of detecting the close contacts. Until now, approximately 1,000 samples were taken, including those returning from red zones," he said.

He said those who tested positive for Covid-19, including an infant, were in stable condition and were asymptomatic.

"I urge the public to adhere to the SOP set by the government. We hope the community pays serious attention to curb the spread of the coronavirus," added Zaini. - Mkini
