COVID-19 | The Kuala Lumpur Bar has warned members to take extra precautions when attending to clients and conducting remand hearings at the Jinjang remand centre.
In a circular to its members sighted by Malaysiakini, the Kuala Lumpur Bar was made aware that two accused persons were detained at the centre on Oct 19 and tested positive for Covid-19 on Oct 25.
According to the circular, remand proceedings will continue to take place at the remand centre.
Detention centres, jails and immigration depots have been a frequent source of Covid-19 clusters recently, most notably in Kedah, Sabah and Penang.
Of the 1,270 new Covid-19 cases detected as of noon today, 508 were attributed to clusters in such facilities.
Currently, there are 9,744 active Covid-19 cases in the country, mostly in Sabah. - Mkini
