Mid Valley Megamall records second Covid-19 case involving tenant

COVID-19 | Mid Valley Megamall saw its second Covid-19 case after Machines confirmed that its outlet employee at the mall had tested positive for Covid-19.

"We would like to confirm that an employee in our Mid Valley outlet received a positive Covid-19 test result on Oct 12," Machines said in a statement on Facebook.

The electronics store said the employee had not gone to work since Oct 8.

"On Oct 10, he informed us of positive Covid-19 cases in the block of flats where he lives.

"Arrangements were immediately made for his testing and self-quarantine," it said.

Machines added that it is working closely with the Health Ministry to identify the employee's close contacts for testing and quarantine purposes.

"We shall be conducting wider precautionary testing in the interest of the safety of our employees and customers.

"Our Mid Valley outlet is closed for disinfection and cleaning until further notice," it said.

Yesterday, Mid Valley Megamall, in a joint statement with The Gardens Mall, also confirmed a separate Covid-19 case involving outlets owned by London Sales Cosmetics Sdn Bhd (LSC).

LSC operates three outlets under different names in Mid Valley Megamall and The Gardens Mall.

They are Origani and Élévatione Time Stops in The Gardens Mall and Surreal by Élévatione Time Stops in Mid Valley Megamall.

"The employee informed her management at LSC on Oct 9 that one of her family members was exposed to the virus.

"She immediately isolated herself through self-quarantine and arrangements were made for her to take the Covid-19 test which was confirmed positive on Oct 10.

"Sanitisation and disinfection of all three outlets under LSC as well as all common areas throughout the entire two malls are ongoing," they had said.

To date, both the employees working at Mid Valley Megamall appeared to have caught the virus from outside of work. There is no evidence yet to suggest that there is transmission within the mall.

In a separate development, a Covid-19 case was also reported at Aeon Mall in Bukit Tinggi, Klang.

According to Sin Chew Daily, Fitness First Platinum gym at the mall had issued a notice informing that one of their members have tested positive for Covid-19.

The gym is now closed until further notice. - Mkini
