One Utama, Paradigm Mall report Covid-19 cases involving outlet staff

COVID-19 | One Utama Shopping Centre and Paradigm Mall have joined the list of shopping malls affected by the Covid-19 wave after suspected cases involving staff members were reported.

In a statement today, One Utama said it was verbally informed of the case at Mac City Service Centre, located on the second floor of the mall.

"The said staff has not stepped into our mall since clocking out from work on Sept 30, with his off day on Oct 1.

"We have traced his entry points to the mall and Mac City Service Centre, and confirm that the staff's temperature was below 37.5°C.

"He is now under the care of a government hospital. As of yet, we have not received any official notification from health authorities," the statement read.

The management has taken the necessary measures by immediately closing the outlet and conducting a deep cleaning exercise, while the co-workers of the affected employee were placed under quarantine.

It had also performed the contact tracing based on CCTV recording and QR check-ins of the patient.

Meanwhile, Padini Holdings Berhad, in a statement today, announced that one of its employees from the outlet at Paradigm Mall has been infected with Covid-19.

The company said it would perform contract tracing, temporarily close the affected outlet, conduct sanitation and deep cleaning process, and arrange for its employees to be screened and undergo quarantine.

In a separate statement, Paradigm Mall said one of the staff at Brands outlet was tested positive for Covid-19.

According to the statement, the staff has a roommate who had just returned from Sabah on Sept 27.

He had been on leave and only reported to work on Oct 2.

Last month, six malls were reported to be affected due to the Covid-19 cases, including a shopping centre in Nilai.

This came amid the surge in cases of Covid-19, majority of whom were traced back to Sabah, which has now been under restriction.

Malaysia has recorded a streak of triple-digit cases since Oct 1, with the record high of 317 cases on Oct 3. - Mkini
