PETALING JAYA: Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad (pic) should honour his promise to support Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in his effort to be prime minister, says PKR Youth. The wing's vice chief Syed Badli Shah Syed Osman said it was common knowledge that Dr Mahathir was supposed to hand over the prime minister post to Anwar when Pakatan Harapan was still in power, but this promise was not fulfilled. "Although Pakatan is no longer in power, it is a promise that can still be honoured if Dr Mahathir expresses support for Anwar," he said in a statement on Sunday (Oct 18). He said that Dr Mahathir's support would be a sufficient signal that he was a person who kept his promises and not otherwise. "As a political legend, Dr Mahathir's name would be tarnished and seen as a leader who failed to keep his promises," he said. Anwar, who is also PKR president, had an audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong on Tuesday (Oct 13), where he was supposed to have presented evidence that he had the support of the majority of MPs in the Dewan Rakyat. In a statement the same day, Istana Negara said Anwar presented the number of people whom he claimed supported him but did not provide a list of names.
