Amok throws plates, injures policemen

The officers were left with minor cuts and bruises after struggling to arrest the man.

KUALA LUMPUR: A man in Damansara Damai was detained today for assaulting two policemen by throwing plates, and also waving a cleaver and hammer at them.

Petaling Jaya district police chief Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said the police received a complaint of someone running amok at one of the houses in the area at 2am.

“The policemen called on the occupant of the house, but the man suddenly acted aggressively by throwing plates in their direction.

“A policeman sustained a cut on his elbow. The 48-year-old man was also waving a cleaver and a hammer at the two policemen,” he said in a statement today, adding that they were left with minor cuts and bruises after struggling to arrest the man.

Nik Ezanee said that further investigations found the man had more than five past records of criminal and drug cases.

The man was remanded for four days.

In another case, police arrested a man for driving in a suspicious manner along the Federal Highway exiting towards the Sprint Highway at 3.20am today.

“The vehicle was ordered to pull over for inspection where the police ordered the suspect to sit in the passenger seat, but he refused and uttered foul language,” Nik Ezanee said.

He added that the driver was remanded for four days. - FMT
