KOTA BARU: The Kelantan government will not hesitate to impose a Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) on the state capital if cases of Covid-19 continue to rise.
Kelantan Local Government, Health and Housing Committee chairman Dr Izani Husin said the move may be necessary to prevent the spread of the pandemic in the state.
"If the situation cannot be controlled, the state government will not hesitate to implement the CMCO in Kota Baru district.
"The district has been a red zone for many days," he said.
Kelantan recorded 54 Covid-19 cases on Saturday and 31 on Sunday, with most of them being imported cases.
Meanwhile, in a Facebook posting, Dr Izani said 28 new Covid-19 cases were recorded today, with 14 detected in Kota Baru.
The latest figure brings the tally of infections in the district to 115 since Dec 15.
Kelantan also recorded a new cluster today – the Pintu Geng cluster – involving 21 cases.
This brings the number of clusters in the state to 10. Among them are the Kaya, Long Panji, Cergas and Hilir clusters. - NST
