The time has come for PKR president Anwar Ibrahim to stop waiting for people to defect and support him, said one of his staunchest supporters.
Otai Reformis secretary Abdul Razak Ismail said it's clear that the numbers game is over, and that Anwar should move on.
“Anwar should just burn the statutory declarations (supporting him) and go down to the states to move on,” Abdul Razak was quoted as saying by FMT.
He said other Otai Reformis members also questioned when the opposition will stop expecting people to defect and back Anwar.
The Port Dickson MP had in September claimed to have secured a strong majority to take over as prime minister.
However, he was unable to prove this in an audience he had with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong in October.
Likewise, he has also failed to muster support to defeat Budget 2021 during the committee stage in the Dewan Rakyat.
"When Pakatan Harapan failed to get 15 MPs to support a request for a bloc vote on the federal budget at the policy stage, the perception was that the game was already over.
“It became clearer when the allocations for 22 ministries were passed one by one at the committee stage,” said Abdul Razak.
Despite Anwar's failure to prove support so far, BN secretary-general Annuar Musa claimed that there are still on-going efforts to collect SDs and undo Umno's opposition to the PKR president.
In a speech this evening, Warisan president Shafie Apdal pressured the opposition to make a change in leadership, while subtly positioning himself to take the lead.
Abdul Razak, in the report this morning, said Harapan needs to work together and strengthen ties with other opposition parties including Warisan, to win the next general election. - Mkini
