Former Pasukan Khas Laut (Paskal) member was sentenced to hang by the High Court in Kota Bharu today after being convicted of murdering a senior citizen during a robbery three years ago.
Justice Wan Ahmad Farid Wan Salleh handed the sentence after determining that the accused Zarmayade Abdullah, 44, failed to raise reasonable doubt.
According to the charge sheet, Zarmayade was accused of murdering Rokiah Mamat, 61, at a house in Kampung Mengkebang, Jalan Batu Lada in Kuala Krai, Kelantan.
The crime allegedly took place between 11am and 3pm on April 12, 2017.
Rokiah was found dead by her child, a school teacher, upon returning home in the afternoon.
For this crime, Zarmayade was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder, which prescribes a mandatory death sentence upon conviction.
