Health DG: In-community Covid-19 cases caused spread to hospitals

The sharp rise in Covid-19 cases among medical personnel in government hospitals is believed to have been caused by the growing number of in-community transmissions in the Klang Valley.

Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the same had happened in Sabah recently.

However, he assured the people, the situation was under control and health services can still continue.

The breakdown of new Covid-19 cases among health workers are as follows:

Hospital Tuanku Ampuan Rahimah Klang - 54

Serdang Hospital - 29

Sungai Buloh Hospital - 15

Kuala Lumpur General Hospital - 10

Ampang Hospital - 5

Selayang Hospital - 4

Noor Hisham said cleaning and disinfection activities have been carried out at the hospital in Klang and there will be further scheduled efforts.

As for the Serdang Hospital, he confirmed that 29 patients have been infected with Covid-19.

All those affected at the Serdang Hospital have been transferred to the Sungai Buloh Hospital.

"The Health Ministry is very concerned over the rise in Covid-19 cases among health workers and is constantly monitoring the situation.

"The ministry advises members of the public not to be worried about receiving treatment and services at health facilities because the situation is under control.

"Continue to practice the new normals to protect yourself, your family and the community from Covid-19," Noor Hisham added. - Mkini
