Lembah Pantai MP Fahmi Fadzil has questioned whether action will be taken against Local Government and Housing Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin for wearing a face shield without a face mask.
Yesterday, Defence Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said authorities could take action against anyone who dons a face shield without a face mask and only schoolchildren were exempted.
"Will action be taken on Zuraida?" Fahmi asked on Twitter.
He tagged both Ismail and the National Security Council in his tweet.
Attached were photos of Zuraida wearing a face shield without a face mask at an event in Kuala Ampang today.
Kuala Ampang is under the Hulu Kelang locality in Gombak district. Hulu Kelang is a yellow zone.
A check of her Twitter shows that the minister frequently wears a face shield without a mask when attending events.
When contacted, Zuraida told Malaysiakini she was informed that the location for her event today, Kuala Ampang, was not a red zone.
"Police escorted me to the event, they are aware of my movements.
"There is no issue, we have been following SOP," she told Malaysiakini.
Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah had previously said that only the wearing of face masks and practice of physical distancing had been proven effective in curbing the spread of Covid-19. - Mkini
