PETALING JAYA: KTM Bhd (KTMB) has introduced an unlimited monthly travel pass for students and people with disabilities (OKU), MyRail5, that can be purchased from Dec 30 onwards.
The pass, which will be effective Jan 1, is an initiative by the government to reduce the financial burden of targeted groups who commute using KTMB’s services, the company said in a statement Saturday (Dec 26).
"MyRail5's monthly travel pass is expected to benefit almost 3,000 train users a day.
“Statistics find that the average expenditure incurred for transportation is RM169 per month.
“Now at only RM5, users can use the KTMB service repeatedly and indefinitely for a period of 30 days, ” said KTMB chief executive officer Mohd Rani Hisham Samsudin.
The monthly pass will be effective for services in the Klang Valley and North KTM Komuter, as well as KTM Intercity Shuttle Timuran that travels between Kuala Lipis and Tumpat.
Registration for the pass can be made at 13 selected KTM stations within the Klang Valley including Tanjung Malim station starting from Dec 27, KTMB said.
“Meanwhile, users of KTM Komuter di Utara and KTM Intercity Shuttle Timuran can register either at all counters or through the KTMB website, ” Mohd Rani added. - Star
