Religious school principal charged with rape, molest of student

 

A principal of a religious school in Machang has been slapped with six charges at the Sessions Court in Kota Bharu today over raping and molesting his student since 2018 and causing her to perform oral sex.

The accused, Mazlelee Mustafa, 45, pleaded not guilty to all the charges and requested for a trial after the charges were read out to him by deputy public prosecutor Hajarul Falenna Abu Bakar before judge Ahmad Bazli Bahruddin.

According to the first and second charges, the accused on Jan 26, 2018, allegedly raped the girl at the principal office at about 10am. She was then 14 years old.

In the third charge, Mazlelee allegedly raped the victim at about 10am on Feb 23, 2019, at the same location.

Apart from that, the accused purportedly had caused the victim to perform oral sex on him on Feb 22 this year in a Honda BRV car, between 9.30pm and 11.30pm, at a roadside along Jalan Machang-Kuala Krai.

The same act was allegedly repeated at his office around 10.30am on Aug 22. 

While in the final charge, he was accused of touching the victim's private part with sexual intent on Sept 15.

Wan Fadzil Wan Omar, who represented Mazlelee, appealed for RM5,000 bail for each charge.

However, Bazli set the bail amount at RM35,000 with one surety, while the case mention is fixed on Jan 24, 2021. 

The victim's medical report will also be tendered on the same date.

For the first and sixth charges, the accused could face not more than 20 years in prison and whipping if found guilty under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.

For the second and third charges, Mazlelee faces up to 20 years in prison and whipping if found guilty under Section 376(1) of the Penal Code.

While for the fourth and fifth charges, under Section 14(d) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, he could be sentenced to prison not more than 20 years and whipping. - Mkini
